No problem Timo. I just figured you either got busy or fell asleep and knocked yourself out when your head hit the monitor.

What was the 1911 model pistol that you preferred?

I would say I like the silent types but I don't want you to get the wrong idea.

I like the Commander length (4 1/4 inch barrel). TO ME, it seems to balance better in my hand and the 3/4 inch of barrel loss length over the full size (5 inch) I don't think makes that much difference in bullet velocity/lethality.

Also to me it seems to be just a little bit more maneuverable and just a bit quicker to get into action due to the reduced length and weight. BUT this is just subjective on my part as I have not really read any definitive articles backing up this assumption.

You mentioned a make and model last time I asked about the preferred 1911 models? All the backgroud lurkers can answer too: What is you favourite 1911 model?

I have 3 45s. A Sig P220, a Full size Colt (5 inch barrel) and a Springfield Armory Ultra Compact V10. For concealed carry I like the Springfield as it is only a 6 shot. For "Business" I like the full size. IF you carry concealed Inside the waistband the barrel length isn't the issue as far as the weapon "Printing", but the GRIP length. I don't have a commander length 45 now but I am seriously thinking about trading in my Springfield for one.

So as of now, If I was to have one of the 45s for carry it would be my Colt. The 10 holes in the top of the Springfield barrel make it REAL hazardous to shoot with it close to your body. It shoots flames about 6 inches out the top and the gas blast length is longer than that.

So to recap my confusing post, IF I had a choice of which/kind of 45 to carry, it would be a Commander length fitted out as follows.

"Beavertail grip safety" just to prevent "Slide or hammer bite".

Commander (or some call it a bobbed) hammer

REGULAR thumb safety. Extended safetys are nice but due to them being larger, more surface area, they would be more prone to be pushed off safe when you DO NOT want them to be.

Nite sites, personally I prefer the "Ashley Express" type. It consists of a bead type front sight and a v shaped rear. They are very fast into action and I personally have trouble getting a square front sight and square notch rear lined up correctly.

I would also want a heavy duty extractor and slightly stronger recoil spring or springs. I think mine has 22 pound spring and it functions just fine with full power duty ammo. I also have something called a Harrts Recoil Reduction Rod, a stainless steel tube with mercury and a steel ball inside. It DOES help reduce "Muzzle flip" and recovery times are slightly faster. Oh, I also like a polished feed ramp just so the bullets have a smooth surface to slide on prior to entering the barrel throat.

So you would rely your life on Colt? Colt has a strong history and I can´t say it wouldn´t influence my way of thinking. There´s a new Combat Elite model that I could afford so do you think it would be a good choise?
