I have a Ruger 10/22 that I'm just dying to put a heavy barrel and a Hogue stock on, along with some good glass. But as it sits, I can hit a squirrel in the eye at 40 yards. That's the only reason that I haven't changed it out yet.

Whats up guys? I'm getting a cold, this always happens when I have a long weekend, never at work I even took an extra day off, I guess I'll use it to get well..

Summer colds are always the worse, hope you get over it quickly. Like you said you have an extra day.

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe buy another to make into a pure target gun, and leave my hunting 10-22 alone.

You can buy a complete target model from Ruger, heavy bbl and all. Or at least they used to sell them. I have the 77/22 heavy barrel and it's a tack driver out of the box. No free foating, no trigger job, no bedding. In my experience with .22s, some just plain shoot well as is. Some don't. I'm an old squirrel hunter and NRA rimfire silhouette match shooter. Best leave that good shooting 10/22 alone, IMO.

I looked at the Ruger target model, but I'm in the mood for something else. I'm thinking Volsquarten trigger and barrel, along with a Hogue overmold stock and some serious glass. But that gun would be way to heavy to carry in the woods, so it would be a separate 10/22 altogether. I can't imagine hunting without my old one.

I'm like Todd, I've got a 10/22 and was thinking about a carbon fiber barrel and a new stock, but then I figured it shoots well enough and the cost!
