The proper baton technique written by Sharpshooter is imo a very good article. I personally believe that no matter what the knife you should try to use proper technique. It developes muscle memory and there may be a time you may have to use someone elses knife or teach the technique to someone that may not have a tough knife. Good point. Even with a Bussekin knife, proper technique is probably still a good thing. Not for the sake of your knife, but for the sake of your ARM. Poor technique can leave you with very sore joints.

Noss is the reason I found Bussekin. I was researching "best survival knives", and found his "test" videos. After watching those - I had no doubt that the Yard was going to be my new home. Exactly how I found it! +1 Me too Same here. I had heard of Busse but didn't know of Scrap Yard until the "Knife Tests" Scrapper 6 video came out. I was pretty impressed. Glad I was able go get one after looking for a long time. Yea, Noss got me too. Still trying to sell my "one piece that becomes two pieces with ease".

I think everyone should take some cheap knife out and beat on it. It will make you feel way more comfortable with your equipment. It is crazy how much abuse even a marine combat knife can take. We all know that anyone on this forum knows that the ol' Camillus and Kabars don't hold a candle to our steel. But it is still crazy what they can take. The lateral stress is where a good knife will stand out imho.

a couple weekends ago I found myself with only a SAK and in need of kindling for a fire.
Yep I batoned with the SAK and had good results.
Please don't ask what I was doing away from home with only the Swiss, I am really not sure myself.

Yeah no Bussekin, no Benchmade, no Gun in a cabin surrounded by Methheads!
My wife who normally hates me being armed and always asks "why do you have to bring that" chewed me out for only having the SAK.
Hopefully now when I bring a small army with me she will understand.
