My old hunting buddy, Ed passed away Sunday night. He had been in poor health for the last few years and was unable to hunt or walk far. I drove him out to one of his favorite hunting areas one day just to give him a break from sitting around the house. He was an expert deer hunter and seldom came back empty handed. He used a 44 Magnum Marlin 1894 in the heavily wooded areas. Rest in peace, old friend.

Vic, I know the passing of your friend will be hard but he is at peace. If he was a believer, if you are a believer as I am your friend is in the happy hunting grounds enjoying things he has not been able to do for some time. My condolences to you and his family, prayers and smoke being sent right now.

Sorry HD.
I bet Ed really appreciated that trip out to the old hunting grounds.

Sorry to hear this HD. There are far too few "old time" hunters left, and hearing about another one passing is saddening. I will say that trip out to the bush was probably very appreciated.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ed didn't have much use for religion. But he was an honest and decent man. By now, he is probably amazed that he continues on his journey. We had a few discussions and I assured him of the resurrection. He is in God's hands now, and I have total faith that the Almighty is just. We are all ultimately headed the same way. My youngest one just loved Ed. Can you imagine she invited him to her oyster roast birthday party one year? She said she knew how much he loved oyster roasts, and it wouldn't seem right without him. And Ed was happy to attend. They just liked each other. A bunch of teenage girls and old Ed happily eating oysters together. She saw the goodness in him that I saw.

My condolences to you and yours Vic. You were a good friend to him. The old timers were a different breed, but I always liked spending time with them. Wish I could have met Ed.
