Been hanging around here quite a bit the last few months.
Purchased a Regulator near the end of the cut off. What an amazing knife.
The knife was given to a family friend who is an Army Sniper that returned from Iraq a couple months ago. BTW, he keeps talking about how much he loves his new blade.
After I saw the quality with my own eyes, I knew I had to have one myself. Problem was I sat on my hands to long. I was disappointed when I went to place another order only to find out I was out of luck.
Somebody on this forum posted a link to bladeforums and I found my new regulator for only $5 more than my original purchase.
My question is, how can someone buy and sell with such a low profit margin or are people "in the know" offered special pricing?
Obviously this seller is not just your average guy who wants to move a collection. He sold at least one other regulator for $10 less than I paid for mine (lost $5 on the sale).

You guys are great, I've learned plenty and I thank you all for that.

Fred

I'd say supply and demand. Guessing that quite a lot of Regulators were sold and most of us that had to have one or more, got them. I know I did. Some people's interests change and got to move them to refine their collection. Some day they may regret letting it go, especially as the value increases as they certainly will. You can bet some of these investments are sitting in safes to finance future wants or to make a Buck. Nothing wrong with that, I wish had a little more discretionary funds to enjoy the trading up game.

Welcome to the Yard.

Some times you can get a deal on the Exchange. Peoples priorities change, and they sometimes need to sell a blade to finance another purchase.

The Regulator is a great knife.

Are you complaning that I sold you The reg too cheap? If it would make you feel better you can send me another $50 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
I will probably regret selling any of them but when my wife saw me opening my safe the other day she about flipped. So I needed to unload a few.

I bought SEVERAL Regs when they first came out. As you may know or will soon find out, This is an expensive addiction. Buying and selling for me is a really fun part of this hobby. Hang around the scrapyard forum more often. There are great people here. Always happy to answer questions and very friendly.

Enjoy that (no markup) Regulator.

I figured I'd run into you here. Thanks again for the great deal. I guess I'm used to dealing with guys that think gouging is the norm. Rest assured I will be looking to add to my collection. BTW I went through the same thing with my better 1/2 in regards to guns and motorcycles. She just rolls her eyes now.

I am glad that there are still people here pass along their knives to newbies like us without markup or with a little markup. Hope I will score somethings in the future.
