MOK, sounds like a really nice piece of wood. Look forward to seeing pics when you get them.

ok, so I think I found a way to attach the rod that lives up to my name, using the largest possible ferro rod, drill a hole through rod and handle, tap both and use a small threaded dowel pin or something of the like to go through. I might not do that on my first one, but just a thought

yeah, makes sense that it would... that was the main problem I could find with that... the other idea I had was to grind the head off a bolt and attach the ferro rod somehow, as I have no way to get threads on the ferro rod other than that
Be careful drilling the ferro rod, because it will throw sparks as you do.(IIRC)
I have drilled ferro rod (for a lanyard)and had the chips ignite. Boy does it get your attention.I then applied a heavy grease to the drill bit and that seem to solve the problem. I have a pile of antler sheds that I have been intending to make some handles with. Just gotta get a round to it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/2weeks.gif" alt="" />

yeah... I'll probably get around to ordering a few rods around Thanksgiving, then the first handle will probably be held together with two part epoxy or super glue, then I'll see if I can get my hands on some JB weld...
