The funny thing is once you know what Steampunk is you start seeing it everywhere. One of the people who assisted with the shoot had never heard of it before. Then she found out the new place she was working for had a Steampunk haunted house every year. She's in NYC.

Very nice work Ted. I've never heard of this Steampunk, but it does remind me of Jules Verne-istic styles and times. Thanks for sharing! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Awesome pics, Ted. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I wasn't really familiar with the Steampunk thing either, but having been involved in the SCA for years, it has made me familiar with a lot of different historical and SciFi groups, I'm sure the list is endless...

Let me interject my nerdiness. Steampunk isn't exactly a fashion as much as it is an idea. It is modern mixed with steam engine era tech/fashion. Not sure if that clears it up, but here is what it looks like to go along with the original pics in this thread. It's usually done with lots of brass, copper and leather wrapped around a modern objects/fashion.

Awesome shots, I've really liked the whole steampunk aesthetic for years now, interesting to see it gain momentum.

May I ask you what the photos are for?

And is that a modified nerf gun (the big barreled one)? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Yes, steam punk is more than just fashion. A lot of people make some really cool gadgets that actually work that look like they could be from the 1800's. For me the old tv show Wild Wild West embodies steam punk. They had cool clothes and gadgets galore.

The shoot was just a creative release for a bunch of creative people that rarely get to do something they enjoy. It would probably cost around $10-15 K to pull off a shot of this size if everyone got paid. It was a 13 person team that put this together with a month or so of gathering props and clothes. We started at 8am and went to around 4pm or so. Then we downloaded and did a quick edit.
It's just for our portfolios and fun. I hope to do a few more of these these year.

Cool pics Ted,thanks for sharing.
Is that a Serge Panchenko on the arm in the second pic?
His stuff fits the steampunk genre nicely IMO.

Yes, it is and yes it does. He lives here in town. I sent him a copy, but have yet to hear back from him.
