For me I have no need to De-Reg. It seems comfortable to use the choil and choke up over the top of the existing guard/hilt. Leaving it in place for the unlikely event I would ever need it in a self defense scenario. Plus keeping the look balanced.
Different strokes for different folks.
I have the TT version of the regulator and I like the handle just the way it is.
Unless a nasty pine or alder attack I don't think I will ever need it as a self defense knife.
