The irony is that if it happened in my city or any number of European countries, and a person HAD a knife and cut her free, they would likely face charges for carrying a deadly weapon.

Still, ridiculous that no-one had a knife or people didn't want to help. I always carry at least a couple of knives (usually a keychain knife and a bigger knife so I have a choice depending on the situation), and I have a FAK with EMT shears in my work bag.

I figured The Dogs would respond this way. Randy,man this story got my goat. So many hundreds of Zombies just walked past not wanting to get involved. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
Among those how many DID in fact carry a sort of pocket knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Stories like this make me hurt inside. The outcome that could have happened surly would have been brighter save for the lack of a simple knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

CARRY any type of blade you prefer,and don't turn your back EVER on someone in need. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

my coworkers look at me funny because I carry a Gerber, my pocket knife, AND a small defensive blade/utility blade. The only reason I don't carry my karambit every day on my weak side is my company has a rule "no weapons allowed" on the premises. I can get away with the utility knife spiel, but that would be harder to swallow with the karambit. Point being, I have at least 8 cutting tools if you count every one in the Gerber, every day, all day, 365. I will never ever leave my house without a blade of some sort, for reasons like this.
