I'm curious as to why nobody seems too concerned about food? I always bring 1 or 2 of those meals just in case.. As you guys know, they only weigh a couple ounces, you only need 8oz of H2O to cook it, and a full belly goes such a long way. Opinions on carrying food? Regards,Mike I added my fishing kit, does that count? Figured on catching a few fish with some local bugs / worms If not...I'll eat the bugs / worms

I always keep some food. But if I am limited to 4 items on top of the supplied items food isn't a big deal. I have been without food for more than 2 weeks with only weakness and weight loss. In a cold environment food helps you stay warm.
For 48 hours a shelter that is dry, a way to stay warm, a fire and water is plenty.

1. Dogfather 2. A good book (in a plastic bag to keep the water off the pages) 3. 1xMRE 4. 1xMRE
If its only 48 hours, and I got the other things you supplied, it would be like a nice little vacation I like this line of thinking. I'm not much of a reader, so I'd probably go 1. 6.5 Reg(those MREs are tough to open) 2. frogg toggs suit 3. MRE 4. Spot Satellite Messenger (to text for help ) I have no experience surviving, but that would keep me alive for quite a while.

Is a 6 pack considered one item?

1. DogFather 2. Magnesium fire-starter 3. gore-Tex suit 4. Mountain House 4 person meal
With the afore-mentioned supplies items and these, you could stay dry, warm, fed, and sheltered.

Grab 4 items, put in a small daypack. 1 items has to be a SCRAPYARD KNIFE. You have a tarp, canteen cup, water bottle, and paracord in the pack. Your in 500 acres of hardwood trees. Bout 55 degrees, rain moving in and your stuck for 48 hrs. Wearing cargo shorts, hiking boots, long sleeve t-shirt & windbreaker. So what did you pack? 1) Scrapper 6 2) 3) 4) 1 A bottle of Pappy 2 Cigars 3 Lighter 4 A Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader...to carry my supplies I may not survive but I will go happy I like this thread and the Dogs have given this some good thought Dan
