Nice catch, ECF!
Here, as the gasoline is 1,6 euro per litre (mean 4,4 USD per gallon), we could'nt had a car like that :-(

Michelangelo, it will probably be that here before long. Lots of us have downsized into smaller vehicles. I did myself.

My car is a Subaru Outback 4WD 2.5
[Linked Image from img26.imageshack.us]
I may strongly recommend it.
Anyway I hope FIAT + Chrysler will do good cars in future :-)

Nice vehicle Alfredo. The lady that lives across the street just bought a forester. I as well hope that Fiat/Chrysler do the right/good thing on their new vehicles.

ECF, what is you MPG on the Jeep? You may not be seeing that much difference in fuel consumption--in 2wd. Now 4wd you will because you will be out having fun in it a lot more places.

Fredo, that is a good looking Sub........what kind of MPG do yu get in it?

I get about 22 (estimated) mpgs from the patriot, even though it's only a 4 banger and a 2wd at that. I did a bit of driving with the Dodge today after I get it insured and temp tags, and the gas gauge didn't seem to go down that much. It does have about a 24 gallon tank though, since what it normally cost me to fill the jeep up only got me half a tank from E. Since it will mostly be used to get to work and back, and I'm not far from work, I don't expect to have to fill it up but every two weeks or so. It's when I start heading up into the woods this summer that it'll get more frequent. The good news is if they approve the refi loan, my payments will go down to 175$ a month for 2 years. Should have quite a bit more pocket cash after that. My crew lead at work owns a '97 Ram 1500, same color and everything, and he says he gets around 22 mpgs highway. I'm also going to swap in some locking hubs when I have the extra cash, that ought to decrease my power consumption a bit.

ECF

The best i ever got out of mine was 17 MPG and I was literally going downhill with the wind at my back. 22 MPG is unheard of with that truck at this altitude.

The interest you pay might eat up alot of the fuel expense.

MB- My crew lead mentioned that this had something to do with the overdrive, and he only ever saw that type of mileage on highway. Every truck is different too, he may have just gotten lucky. I definitely won't be comparing it to a prius, lol, I certainly know this. But then again, I wouldn't be caught dead in a prius...

PoP- It's a good thing I already have experience driving Box trucks and the like, otherwise I'd imagine I would be really nervous about driving it through tight spaces. I can't wait for that first call from a friend... "Hey dude, can you help me move?"

Imagine- the interest doesn't bother me, I don't mind throwing a little extra money at it when my payments will be 175$ a month. With both vehicle payments, I'm cutting it close at the end of the month, but with just one, and for less than the jeep payment, I'll be well within my means each month. This is definitely the biggest step I've taken toward getting debt free!

Cripes El,I'm getting about 14mpg on my Jeep. A fill up with premium fuel costs around $90.00 from Empty. That's at our current price of $3.95.9 per gallon.

I would LOVE to get your high milage!!
