took forever to get "on" with the scope I had on the air rifle. scope kept shifting and apparently i had a lesson to learn about shooting it. finally ended up taking a quarter and truning be front screw as hard a I could. fellt it turn turn a good bit more than i expected. that seemed to do it as for the scope. also turns out I need to get some more "follow through" to my shots. watched a review on air rifles and the guy mentioned it about "springer" air rifles. once I did those two things I'm actually impress by my old air rifle. still not as mug power as I would like but a head shot at 30 yards seems to be the ticket.

And the reason I started this thread...

I took a head shot at this fellow at around 25 yards or so but think I was high to the right. Spooked him and he took to the trees. Reloaded and followed him as he was heading home. He decided to stop and take a look at me. I got in right on the cheek bone. He went straight down in his tracks but a toe nail got caugh in the tree bark. He hung there for maybe 3 minutes before he finally came down.

dead squirrel..

told my dad I saw about five of them one day. he says he's seen about eleven <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />! so there's still a few more that need to go as far as I'm concerned.

lazi, I have read in numerous places that an "Adult" air rifle will destroy a regular rifle scope. Something about the recoil operating in two different directions and regular centerfire scopes not made to handle that type of recoil.

That's an air rifle scope Im using on there now. I think it's a cheap Walther scope or something like that. I had read the same thing and figured it might do fine for the air rifle or 10/22. This air rifle kicks pretty hard form the spring motion and the scope mounts wouldn't stay tight. Inwas ready to take the scope off and ditch the rifle in the closet. On what was to be my final attempt I gave it a hard turn with a quarter instead of the screw driver. It was still another 1/4 turn I had in there past where I had been tightening it before. Felt like going over a hump. It's been good ever since. It was putting pellets in the same hole at 25' after that. Something weird was still happening that would suddenly change where the shots went. Turns out that was all me. Really have to have more follow through than I was used to and also have to think about how you are holding it. I was pretty impressed once I worked those things out. I think my shooting overall will improve with what I learned from the air rifle. My understanding of "follow through" is now at times two from where I was before.

yeah My air rifle is REALLY accurate. IF I do my part it will put pellets inside a dime at 10-15 yards all day long. May not sound like much but with open sights and my old eyes, pretty good.

well I have been finding that all of my wire hangers suck bad for a homemade slingshot. they metal is thin and bends way too easy. I also only had a handful of rubber bands that come on the newspapers. These are definitely not hunting materials. I may have some time this weekend to kick the idea around some more. I know its easy to go buy a sling shot for $6-$15 but I'm down to do a little tinkering. May run by a hardware store or two just to see what can be made for less than $5.

You could make a way beter sling shot with surgical tubing but I think the point is being able to make one with what you might be able to find easily and this about hits that mark...look forward to your ideas...It was kinda fun doing that again after..I dont know....35 years <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

My 10/22 was made before the extended magazine release. The red part fixed the problem and then some. It takes about 5 minutes to install if you a little cleaning while you are at it.

Those rings/bases would work so you could see the iron sights if you didn't want to use the scope. But with a 50mm objective lens you can't see the front sight anyway.

I like that revolver Sumo but not the msrp. price. looks like it will street for around the same as or close to the semi autos. 10 in a magazine vs. 10 in a cylinder? I think mag... I would like to handle one though.

Didn't know Ruger was making 25 round mags now... http://www.ruger.com/micros/BX-25/index.html?r=y

Only have a couple steel lips but plan to pick up a few more. I thought about the aluminum mags that seem to get pretty high marks. Think it's Tactical Solutions maybe?... I maybe would prefer the clear/smoke plastic though. I like that you can take them apart but so far I've had no need for that. May snag one if I ever see it in a store somewhere and if the price is simlar to the BC steel lips. But factory labeled usually comes with a higher price. Would be cool if they start shipping these with a few models!

If the new Ruger revolver was available with a 10 shot mag cylinder it would be a no brainer for me. But, being in 22 lr only I will probably pass and hope I find a Kel Tec PMR 30 someday.

Interesting how many s&w 422/622 pistols are owned. I've a 422. Any ideas on hoow to mount a scope w/o using the grip replacement version? Anyone put the barrel threading adaptor on their's?

My favorite 22lr pistol is my Kadet unit on my custom cz sp-01. I may even have a rail for it, I like letting new shooters use a red dot sight. Extremely accurate and reliable and good training.

I have an airsoft p226 x5 open. It is a blowback pistol with an identical operation as the sp01. Without the rail (which I want to try on the kadet), compensator, and mag funnel the weight and size are really close. The mags can hold the same # of rounds as the 9mm and since the co2 is in the magi I can also practice mag changes. I just need to clean out the garage and have the 2yr old away for an afternoon to try it out.
