Nothing except the color. It is purely aesthetic, but they also removed the vertical front and rear serrations in favor of fluting around the barrel. Hogue rubber grips have been changed to laminate grips. Just checked Ruger's site and the gold version is no longer listed. I didn't notice that until you said it. Good point. I like the fluting better. The serrations are god for a slide, but pointless on the 22/45. The fluting is pointless too except to shed a little weight.

To be honest I like the black Ruger in quetion much better for the looks, but the fluting does make more sense.

after thinking through a good bit it seems the newest version of the 22/45 lite is what
l should get. I like the black finish and the fluting way more than those serrations that look like they are meant for working a slide.

Just bought me a Hk A5 22 lr. Imported my Umerex but made by walther. Pretty sweet little carbine. Ill post a pic when I can.
