We have long arm threads up all the time but I could not find a side arm thread. So dogs, what and when do you carry?
I've had them all if only for a moment Wilson, STI, Strayer Voigt, Kimbers, Sigs, Glocks and on and on. But, in the end? I have stayed the most true to my Glock 19. Personally, I tend to go 9mm or 45acp and shy way from things in the middle.
Of all the guns out there I think that Glocks are the most bang for your buck. Easy to work on(if you ever had too) with cheap parts readily available.
There are a few wheel guns in my arsenal, an AirWeight and a Model 66 both by Smith and Wesson. (Who up unto the release of the BodyGuard .380 I didn't think made much junk.) The wheel guns serve there role well. My wife can load and operate both easily. If she is in the car or the house she is ready to go. We are working on everywhere else. Although I wish she would carry the AirWeight in .38Special it isn't happening and as time and finances will allow I hope to get her a Ruger LCP.
I've had excellent luck with LCPs and can NOT say the same about P3ATs or Bodyguards.
Recently, I have looked real hard at the Taurus PT1911 in 9mm though and am considering giving that a go.

One gun style that has been with me since I was old enough to purchase has been a 1911 platform: Colt, Smith and Wesson, Springfield, Norinco, RIA, Auto Ord, Dan Wesson, BUL, Kimber, Nighthawk, Dan Wesson Valor, Les Baer, and have shot many others including a Wilson (many rds), Ed Brown (not too many rounds), so on. Of those my favorite has been the Dan Wesson Valor--so much even when I had saved enough for a Wilson CQB with all Bullet Proof parts I chose the DW Valor.
Through the years I too have tried most the platforms: Beretta, Browning, Bersa, Sig, Springfield,. Glock, Styer, HK, Ruger, CZ, Smith and Wesson, etc. Of all those the Glock is my favorite double stack and the HK P7 series for single stacks.
Double-Action revolver: Smith, Ruger, Colt, Tauras, Rossi, Charter Arms, Astra. Smith all the way, I love me some Smith.
SAA and clones: Uberti, Cimarron, Beretta, Ruger, Taylors, USFA, and shot Colts some but not owned one. By far the best for the money is USFA--love them, and plan on getting another one sometime in the near future.
Small pocket guns--pretty much everything. Like the Ruger LCP and Smith 442/642 for them.
Saying that, I want a Glock 20 SF with LWD brl, a Keltec PM30, and a Smith 625 with 4-5" brl for good trail/woods/fun guns.

My favorite carry guns are first my Sig P225 single stack 9mm. Had this gun for about 17 years and always find myself coming back to it. I also have a couple of 45acps that I carry some, a 1991A1 fullsize and a Springfield ultracompact V10. Ihave a mod 17 glock 9mm but ripped off the rear sight and haven't gotten it replaced yet. Guess I need to do that. It is one of the original models that came in before the Glock mania hit. It belonged to a fellow police officer that Died and I bought it from his widow probably 13 years ago.
I also have carried a .40acp Star that shoots really well.
I have a few others as well that I have carried from time to time. .380PPK, 32Beretta, 32PP, hi standard 22 mag derringer. Smith mod 60-10 5 shot 357 with 3 inch barrel.
For "fun gun" or hunting I have a 357 Ruger single six convertible with a 9mm cylinder

I've trimmed down considerably from a couple years ago. All I have now is a Sig P220, Sig P229, a Glock 19 and my Ruger MkII Slabside. No wheel guns at all, at least at the moment.

I'm always carrying my old S&W Model 411 in .40 S&W, but I have a Glock Model #22 in .40 S&W, a couple of 9mm's (Ruger and Helwan), Ruger Mark I and Mark II .22's, Ruger Blackhawk in .30 carbine, .25 Raven, Colt Python (.357), and Ruger RedHawk in .44 mag. I have plenty of ammo for all of them, along with my long-guns. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

We have long arm threads up all the time but I could not find a side arm thread. So dogs, what and when do you carry? Just as a reference point for more reading and pics.... There is the "Handgun Thread" in the other forum. Firearms Threads seems to fit a little better over on this side. Will try to round up some pics and post about my few..

I have yet to acquire my concealed carry permit, but I have taken the course. When funds allow, I'm going to go file the paperwork and get the ball rolling on that. As for Open carry, I'm always humping this beast. I used to own an XD .45 Tactical, and I loved it, but the grip frame was a tad too large during snap shooting and eventually I traded it in for the Taurus. When I purchased it, it was pretty well used, but not shot out. There were a few problem components, like the safety. Likely the reason the original owner sold the gun off in the first place. Along I come, with the technical knowledge and patience to fix every little problem and BAM, now it's a reliable shooter. Recently it has started having a rare problem of the hammer only going to a half [censored], so I think it's come time to install new sears, but other than that it's been a great weapon even used as it was. btw, my Avatar pic is the same pistol before I stripped and Patina-ed the slide.

I usually keep the FN FiveSeven, FN FNP45, and S&W 442 handy.
I keep a few more locked up... 357, .32acp, el cheapo .25, and I think that's about it..
Anything new will most likely be 9mm, .357 or .22lr. Would prefer not to add any new rounds to the line up.
