no problem el cacafuego. i'm glad go be here to offer my help to anyone who has questions. i sharpen quite a few busse kin knives and the last 1 i sharpened was a scrap yard regulator. here is what the owner had to say after getting the knife back from me.

"I just got home after midnight and opened the box. The edge is amazing. I am scared to play with that knife now. Richard - you truly are the god of sharpening. Hats off to your skill."

maybe i can get him to post some pictures since i never took any. cjpgeyer was over when i sharpened it and it shaved his arm bald easily.

Where does one pick up paper wheels at a decent price?

you can get them at any woodcraft sotre or order them from grizzly imports. i like the 1" wide wheels better than the 3/4" wheels. you can order wheels from 1/4" up to 1 1/4" wide from the manufacturer.

Here is a picture of the Regulator Richard is referring to.

And a close up of the edge.

It is a polished edge, but with excellent bite. A light touch anywhere along the edge cuts the skin deeply. Hence I said I am scared to unsheath it now. Easily push cuts newsprint as well. But the best part is the edge remains sharp even after heavy use on cardboard and particle board.

I should have mentioned that I just used the slotted wheel. I don't even have the grit wheel installed on the grinder. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The more I look at this thread the more interested in this setup I get.

Me too!
I live in an apartment though.I suppose I could store it in my attached shed & set it up on my back deck.
On the other hand a belt sander allows you to remove stock/reprofile,strip & satinize a blade plus sharpen it.And you can use it for shaping handles.
A belt sander just takes up more space if I'm not mistaken.
