I think DI is perfectly fine. one thing that might help with that lubrication issue, is getting an NP3 plated bolt carrier assmebly, That's Slick Stuff!

How 'bout that 1311, eh?

well, I broke down and at the last minute bought the DI version. I read too many complaints about the GP versions having carrier tilt issues and I didn't want to mess with that so I just went with DI (saved almost $300 too). There is an article in my SWAT magazine about a BCM test AR(which is DI) going 35000 rounds with only 1 cleaning after about 20000. That's awesome! I know LMT isn't Bravo Co. but they are another high end AR so I think with good lube it should do just fine.

Thanks for all the comments and replies!

DI is fine...for much more than just the civilian needs.

If you already have a DI system...Keep it simple, and get a duplicate (i know..no fun)...but the parts will be interchangeable.

Yep, thats it Ish. Sry, I forgot that you had posted it here. That pretty much proves that a well built DI can perform under harsh circumstances. I still like my AK and FAL which are GP but they don't suffer from carrier tilt. For now all my ARs are still DI. I love the new LMT AR BTW.

Thanks again!

Glad you settled on one you liked! LMT puts out a great product.

The carrier tilt issue stems from adding a piston system, which changes the direction of force through the bolt carrier like a lever, to a system that was never designed for a piston. Carrier tilt isn't catastrophic, but it can cause accelerated wear and tear on the buffer tube.

Eugene Stoner had one more chance to put pad to paper and rebuild his original design from the ground up. I think it's telling that he chose not to include a piston, but instead beefed up extraction and fixed issues with the bolt.

The result: http://www.knightarmco.com/sr15.html

If I was going to buy an AR, this one would be it.

Yeah, Knights armament is nice. If $ didn't matter I would get a KAC or a Noveske. But since $ does matter I went with a LMT and plan to add a BCM later.

Thanks for the comments.
