What do you think about them, guys. Do you use them. Do you think they are useful in some way, or not at all.
I like them but at the same time I can’t use a big folder like these in the pics below as an EDC, and when I’m outdoor I like most a 3”-4” fixed blade. But I’m attracted by them anyway. Your thoughs?

Alfredo, nice blades! I edc that Chris Reeve and do not find it difficult at all, of course all I wear is Jeans. I am like you, outdoors I like a fixed blade, but feel that a HARD USE folder is a VERY good addition if you can carry it.

Depending on the laws in your country and area you might consider getting an ankle holster made for one of the folders and carry it that way. It couldn't hurt and could even at some time be very beneficial!

I like the big folders but have very few over 3" folders as I would rather have a fixed blade for that. One thing is for sure, the big folders don't carry as nice as smaller ones.

I have a Spyderco Tenacious. Thats my biggest folder. But unlike alot of people a heavy knife doesn't bother me to carry.

Big Folders definately have a "Cool" factor. i wear jeans and carrharts, they carry well in carhartts, big folders are a little easier to conceal than a fixed blade. i also have small light blades,i like to carry thos when i'm in a suit. it depends on the mood i'm in usually, like if i'm in "Dirty Harry" mode and i just feel like carrying a my 6 inch S&W i'll carry a big folder to offset the weight on the other side <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> otherwise i have a tops/buck CSAR-T that rides in a pouch on my pack as a backup when i'm hiking. but it all comes down to your preference. to answer your question: Yes, I like big folders.

How 'bout that 1311, eh?

I have a few big folders. I carry them a lot. I carry a 4 inch folder nearly everyday if I am not carrying my HRLM.

I love SnG and CRKs larger size blades and think they carry great. The super heavy folders kinda turn me off. Any folder that weighs more than a loaded Airweight Smith and Wesson seems like a bad trade off.

I've always wanted an Extrema Ratio RAO, yeah a fixed blade is probably more practical but it looks cool.

I have that ZT also, nice knife, carries well for it's size, don't carry it a lot as it's a bit more than I need most of the time.

I don't currently have a big folder. I really like that Zero Tolerance.

I just saw a review of a very heavy duty folder on Gunblast.com. It is the Grayman Satu folder. It has a 3/16 inch blade. It has a 4" x 1.5" blade. It's out of my price range right now at $375.00
