Pumpkin Muk #18 was waiting for me when I got home from work tonight. Wow is this thing sharp, I think the sharpest I have recieved from any Busse brand yet. It's a little bigger than I thought but feels real good in the hand.

Got mine today too. Quite a bit different than the ScrapMuk, or at least more so than I thought by comparing specs/pic. IF I had to choose one, I would go with the ScrapMuk as there is no comparison (for me) when it comes to the "in hand" feel of the two knives. That being said, I look forward to this years hunting season to give it a workout and see how the edge holding stands up that that of the ScrapMuk (which completely blew my mind last fall on my buck).

I will say that the Busse Muk is the prettier of the two, and it seems to have a much "deeper" belly while that of the SM's is "longer" (not sure if that makes any sense at all). Also, without actually using it to be sure, I would say that from the looks/in hand, the "choil" of the BM is more likely to get hung up on a hide than the "un-choil" of the SM...a BIG +1 for the SM for the way I use a knife like this.

Although it certainly doesn't feel this way, the BM puts my fingers much closer to the cutting edge than the SM. all in all, I am glad I got one...now to figure out what I need to sell to be able to keep it

Well, damon, since you clearly don't like that Busse Muk, I'll be happy to take it off your hands

As for the last on, clearly you need to sell me your Swamp Muk to keep the busse

Sooooo....for all those that are getting a Busse muk, I guess you won't be needing those Scrap Yard ones now, right? I am happy to help relieve you of that extra piece of steel that's just going to get underfoot now

Ok, I see what you are doing----I am keeping mine

haha, not sure where you got the "clearly don't like it part." Maybe just not quite as much as the scrap yard one, but it is still a nice knife.

Not sure how to take those first two statements

As for the last on, clearly you need to sell me your Swamp Muk to keep the busse

S1: The thing that I LOVE about the ScrapMuk is the very gradual unsharpened area between the handle and the edge. When I first processed an animal w/ my GenII Howling Rat, I kept getting the choil hung up on the animal's hide. Given the more distinct transition from edge to "choil" of the BM I can see such happening with this blade much easier than w/ the yard's offering. But again, this is speculation as I have yet to actually use it...I hope I am wrong

S2: When I grab the two knifes naturally (where the handle "puts" my hand), I am much farther back on the SM than the BM. However, and I don't yet know why this is, I feel much more control over the edge w/ the Scrap Muk even though my hand is farther away from it (this is counter-intuitive to me...all I can think of at this point is maybe just he design of the ScrapMuk feel like a custom-to-my-hands blade and the BM just feels like a nice knife). However, the "lines" of the BM are the hands-down winner in the looks department to me...go figure

also, the BM's point is, well, pointier...which I like.
