My most used and abused is cold steel. The recon scout has taken a beating I have had mine since 95 or so. it has never failed me. I have recently started to use Esee knives and they are tough as well.
Chris reeve one piece hollow handles hold an edge and haven't snapped or broken on me yet. If you can find one grab it they don't make em any more.
I agree tops makes a strong product as well. I had the anaconda designed by Ron hood. It was a great chopper.
Not having used one yet, just playing with it (the knife!) The ferhman extreme judgement line could pass as a Busse kin relative. It feels great in the hand and looks to be a good chopper yet handle some detail work as well.
Good thread steeley! Schrade produces an exact copy of the Chris Reeve Project II. I think it held up slightly better than the Chris Reeve did on Nos's site too, IIRC. A lot less expensive too. Might be a more affordable option, but the Chris Reeve's sure are nice.

Ive been a big fan of Ranger Knives. All designs are made by OKC now. I beat the hell out of my RD6 and it never failed me. Sadly I just recently sold it to fund my scout rifle project. The Reg Bowie ended up taking its place.
For now my DogFather , Reg Bowie , Dumpster Mutt , and Swamp Warden are more than enough. I know blasphemy right? lol.

Most of the knives I own are SwampRat and ScrapYard. I have been a fan for just over of year. If your looking for the best eventually the path will bring you to Bussekin knives. I have two ESEE knives that I like a lot but have just one flaw in my book (Note my book). The RC4 has allen heads holding the handles on and after field dressing a deer, I notice fat and other matter collects in these small holes and this bothers me. They both hold edges and ESEE knives get good scores on knife tests.com

Anyone have any experience with Mad Dog Knives ? They are crazy expensive even compared with Busse's, just wondered why they cost so much ?

Jeff Randall speaks highly of scrapyard knives (actually all Bussekin knives). I do like my HEST and would not hesitate to put it to hard use.
I just haven't found a knife in the same price range as a yard knife that gives the same performance. I wouldn't mind getting a swamprat knife, but for myself I don't see the need

I prefer my Busse kin for most fixed blade needs, but I've got Some TOPS and ESEE that serve me well too.

Short answer: other knives that hold up as well as SYKCO? Yes: Swamp Rat and Busse
Depends on the need. I'm not going to fillet a bass with my Dog Father nor would I hack down a tree with my folder. Or would I?

The most bomb proof knife that I own is NOT a SYKCO blade. It's a Busse ASH-1.
But, to be fair, I don't have a SYKCO blade in the same class. I'm sure the Regulator would give the ASH-1 a run for its money.

I have come to love my Reg and no longer care about the swashbuckler tip...its all the better to stab zombies with

I have had an ASH-1 and prefer the TT Regulator to it.
