Today I went out and performed the same tests on my Sog Seal Pup Elite as I did with my Muppy. It surprisingly held up to the tests in alot of the areas as the Muppy. In areas I like the Muppy much more. I guess sometimes I get this idea that Sykco knives are better than all other I am definatly a bigger fan Sykco than alot of companies but like alot of others as well. So do you have any other knives that hold up as well?

There are other good knife companies out there. I do not abuse knives, so for me any decent quality blade would suffice. However it is nice to now that if lost, stuck or whatever the knife you are packing is bombproof

Just realised that I do have one by another manufacturer, thanks to Horndog, my TOPS Knives Tracker. I've beat on this knife just as hard as on my Busse-Kin blades and it's held up just as well, it is 1/4" thick though so I wouldn't have expected anything different. Here it is with another tank of a knife, my SRKW M6.... By pitdog2010 at 2011-05-16

Knives will cut. Good steel is good steel. That said, after watching several "knife tests" by Noss, I've decided that if I'm going to spend money, it might as well be on something that will outlast my children's children, a nuclear holocaust, and cockroaches.
I have a few other blades--some customs I'd be hard pressed to part with. ESEE strikes me as a decent company and I own an Izzy. I had some Barkies, but could never seem to convince myself that they were worth holding on to. Didn't like the heat treat that came on my Ontario blade.
Get what meets the need. Always buy the best quality you can afford and you won't have regrets.

My most used and abused is cold steel. The recon scout has taken a beating I have had mine since 95 or so. it has never failed me. I have recently started to use Esee knives and they are tough as well.
Chris reeve one piece hollow handles hold an edge and haven't snapped or broken on me yet. If you can find one grab it they don't make em any more.
I agree tops makes a strong product as well. I had the anaconda designed by Ron hood. It was a great chopper.
Not having used one yet, just playing with it (the knife!) The ferhman extreme judgement line could pass as a Busse kin relative. It feels great in the hand and looks to be a good chopper yet handle some detail work as well.
Good thread steeley!

Good thread steeley! Playing with your anaconda huh? Tops and Esee to me, almost look like they both could be related to the Busse kin factory. Thanks I thought it might be a good thread

Most of my stuff is Bussekin with some other custom stuff mixed in and even fewer assembly line fixed blades. Like DT, if I am going to spend the money I want the best for the buck--hence all the SY and Rat blades I have.

I have to say my Bussekin knives are my go to blades. I have thrown a mild amount of abuse on a cold steel SRK but I don't trust it near as much as I trust my Bussekin blades.
