you have to worry about getting flamed on this forum I don't think. at least I haven't seen it happen yet. I understand you wanting the knife to be right and nobody will blame you if you it's not up to par. It happens... I myself had a bit of a gripe and I regret not giving them a second chance to follow through on this statement made by Jerry Busse.

If You Have A Problem With Your Busse Knife. . . Here's What To Do. . .
Contact the shop FIRST. Give us the opportunity to look at the problem and to fix it. If we DO NOT fix the problem or are so drunk that we refuse to assist you, (This has NEVER happened) then you can bring it to the forums and feel free to vent.

Given the proper tools, it does not take much to destroy a great knife. Given the internet, it does not take much to destroy a great reputation.

We have NEVER left a customer unsatisfied, when given the opportunity.

I actually believe that statement is from the heart of the Busse company and I kinda regret not giving them another chance.

Hope you enjoy your WarDor. All things point to it being a great little knife. I wouldn't mind a dull one at this point. So don't let this experience spoil you on ScrapYard knives. And this forum is a good place to hang "period".

What are you going to do after you beat it like a red-headed step child? Gonna have to learn to sharpen it eventually...might as well be now

Seriously though...Lazi is dead on. If you're unsatisfied, contact Renee and they'll do right by ya. Or, sell it. Or, learn to sharpen it...because you'll need that knowledge later anyhow.

think I'm gonna try to sharpen it, just deciding on a method, belt sanders look like they produce a hell of an edge, but I kind of want to stick to manual sharpening, as I'm experienced and don't want to ruin blades...

I can be pretty hot or miss with my convex edge sharpening...I stunk with my Barkies, struggle with a Koyote...but do well with a Fiddleback Ladyfinger and the War Dog is loving my strop. Didn't take much to get an nice edge on the WD.

Renee thanks for the fine knife as usual the quality of work is fantastic. I have had the opportunity to convert a friend who is currently working in Iraq to the quality of knife coming from the Yard. I will be making an order for him and when he is passing through he will pick it up. Thanks for all that you do.

Did I miss something? Are they still taking orders for the WarDog?

Sorry to say, mine might very well be on ebay...

I guess I'm the 1 in a 1000, but, mediocre service (again, I feel for your loss, but see it from my end, with no communication from SYKCO, yet charged before "BLADE" and shipped the 3rd day when you guys got back) and a dull blade upon arrival, is a bit of a slap in the face...

sorry, if that's harsh, but that has been my experience, I got hooked by INFI, and still am...

but I feel like I got worked, to a degree...

let's go sharpen my "new" knife

Mine came dull as well. I tried stropping it to get a better edge but even after several passes it was still reluctant to shave arm hair. After a few of passes on the belt sander it was good to. Like Ishikawa said, you were going to have to learn to sharpen it eventual.

This was my first venture into INFI and INFI $. I was more disappointed in finding out that there were gaps in the handle after I had placed my order. That is where I expect more from a $200 knife. I eventually expected to see rust forming in the gaps and working its way under the handle. Fortunately INFI seems to be fairly rust resistant so I don't think it is going to create a problem.

However, with that in mind and me not knowing if I could use such a thick knife reselling the knife was a real possibility and I know sharpening it might bring down the value some. So I was a little hesitant to do it at first but I didn't want to give up on the knife before I put it through its paces and in order to do that I needed to sharpen it. It seems to do just fine now. It cuts fairly well for such a thick blade and I rather like it. I don't know if it does enough for me to keep it seeing as it is a $200 knife and more often than not a $15 knife will work. Time will tell. The nice thing is that the bussekin seem to hold their value if not appreciate so if I do decide to sell it off I shouldn't lose out.

I'd suggest you cut them a little slack on the communication as well. I don't know if it was mentioned here but on the Swamp Rat forum and Blade Forum it was mentioned that they would be taking a bit of a break after the show. They are supposed to be back up and running today though.

If you send it back after contacting the shop I am sure they'd be happy to sharpen it for you...As others have already stated, you should probably learn to sharpen it yourself as it will come up in the future - no knife will keep an edge for ever. In fact, the sharper it is, the quicker it is likely to dull given edge geometry and such. Yes its nearly a $200 knife but everyone knew that going in. It is Infi and ScrapYard and will last a long, long time. Sure a $15 knife will work but I would ask why did you buy a $200 knife if you already felt you had a $15 one that was everything you needed it to be? When it comes down to knife toughness and strength, you would be hard pressed to find a $15 knife (or a knife at any price) that can stand with the Bussekins. Also, it is a thick blade but that was known before you purchased it because all the blade geometry was given. There are jobs for thin blades and jobs for thick ones.

Anyway - Enjoy it or sell it! there are plenty of folks out there that missed out on it that would love to take it off your hands.
