I ran into a little lull in the action and thought I'd share with you guys and gals. I have shown you what Germany looked like through my eyes. Now, I am showing where I come from.

First off, I had to have a crawfish boil with the family. We bought 175 lbs of the little bugs and threw them into the water with some taters, onions, corn, mushrooms and a ton of seasoning. This is before they met their makers and our bellies.

The next day, and slightly hung over, me and my youngest niece decided to get out into the swamplands of Louisiana's south. These are from Serpent Bayou and its surrounding swamps.

Here's the War Dog showing up the Swamp Rats in their backyard. It is lodged in a Cypress knee. These are the up-growths of the Cypress tree roots. They grow up to get to air since the rest of the roots are underwater. I have seen these 6 feet tall when in areas that flood a lot.

Here is my trekking companion, Jayden, 6. She is sweating a bit, but I was sweating more as I haven't acclimated to the southern heat and humidity yet. It was about 95 degrees and a billion humidity. You say impossible? Get out where I was and you'll changed your mind.

I did say guns too, so here you go. These are guns my uncle gave me when I got into Texas a week ago before coming to Louisiana. As you can tell, he is a revolver fan.

That is one heck of a instant handgun collection you have there. Your uncle must have been really fond of you.

There's nothing like some good QT with the family after being away. Congratulations on the gun collection, I'm a revolver man myself.

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

Here are some answers:

I believe the ninja abandon the shell to be more mobile.

Uncle always wanted a boy and ended up with two girls. I guess he is fond of me since he always brought me shooting as a boy. Worked out for me.

I am not using the Voigtlander. It is in the mail on the way to Salt Lake City where I am going next. Expect some night photos from the canyons very soon.

I missed a t. Well, I was going to ask about the lack of the low-light photos but itīs very difficult to take pictures with a lens that is on its way to somewhere...

Pretty generous gift from your uncle!

175lbs of crawfish! That is more than I weigh. What does that cost a pound? How many people does it feed?

We paid just under $300 for the five 35 pound bags. It fed about 15 adults and five kids with just enough left over for a crawfish etouffee the next day that fed four with the rice and other fixings. The rule of thumb for a crawfish boil is 10 pounds per person and everyone should have plenty to eat with the extras.
