These kind of mess kit are standard issued gear of the Belgian Military forces.
Normally they come like this:

2Pieces one big one small one when they are packed together you can put your spoon/fork/knife in there with some canned food.

Here are the Picture of the belgium fort that We visited.... (it was constructed in 1888)

If you watch google earth you can see the triagular shape wich is the trench on the hill, on the 3 spots on the middle were the big guns.

In to the darkness of the fort <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> (We had some flashlights and a flash on the camera because there was no daylight getting in and without any flashlights it is suicide getting in. @sf45acp: what kind of mess kit do you use ?
Only bad thing on my mess kit is that it isn't deep, like when you are boiling water I like a deeper pot, also I carry always a aluminium cup too. But I have that mess kit since I was 12years (now 24 years old) and it is still in good shape & most important it does the job...

Very cool pictures of the for. Thanks much for the heads up on the mess kits. I'll search the web.
