Fellow Dogs,
Some off you folks know that I got married a few months ago. Most of you that are married know all about the tradition of saving the top layer of cake and having it on your first aniversary. Well we decided to have ours at 2 1/2 months so it would not taste like dried out cardboard.
So I thought this would be the perfect chance to make users out of a couple of blades I had laying around and test them on the hardest subject known to man besides industrial grade diamonds. Thats right all of these performed very differently in this battle royal. But suprisingly in this contest there was no clear winner until we look at the scorecard.
Lets get to the cutting. Here are your contestants:
1. War Dog, SYKCO, INFI Steel, Res-C
2. RatManDu, Swamp Rat, SR-101, Micarta
3. Vera Wang, Wedgewood, Sterling Silver, Sterling Silver
While my lovely bride was wonderful enough to agree to this chop off, contrary to what I was thinking in my head and actually chopping this cake with the rat and the dog, "we" decided the Vera Wang would be first. Even though the Vera Wang kinda of already had its day in the sun! I mean she wouldn't let me bring the Bussekin to the wedding. Either way lets get started.
1st up
Vera Wang .....
2cd up
War Dog.
3rd up
RMD.
Results
Score Card.
Allright while some of the results will be controversial I'm going to list the criteria and scores from 1 - 10 (with 10 being the highest) and then tabulate them with a computer to give a totally scientific and non biased opinion.
Vera Wang.
Looks - 10 - This is a beautifully crafted knife.
Edge Holding ability - 2 ? - (seriously there is no way I'm going to test this, if I did I would need a new wife).
Cake Cutting Ability - 10 - this knife worked well. The length really added some leverage allowing you to really attack the cake.
Handle - 5 - Pretty but not practical the handle could get slippery in bad weather and I would not want to baton wood in a rainstorm with this knife.
Usefullness in a zombie apocalypse - 3 - While you would be the most fashionable bell at the ball, I don't think this would do much damage to the undead. But its better than a whiffle ball bat so it is good for something.
War Dog
Looks - 10 - What can I say it looks great.
Edge Holding ability - 10 - INFI = awesome.
Cake Cutting Ability - 9 - the short blade was a little limiting but not enough for a big penalty.
Handle - 10 - Res C - This handle material faired the best in the testing. Providing a sure grip no matter how heated the cake cutting got.
Usefulness in a zombie apocalypse - 9 - Its Bussekin so I would bet the farm on it but the short blade get a 1 point knock because i just don't want to be that close to a zombie.
RatManDu
Looks - 10 - It is my favorite knife of all time so it gets a ten just because.
Edge Holding ability - 10 - SR-101 what else do I need to say.
Cake Cutting Ability - 9 - Again the short blade was a little limiting but the full sized choil really allowed me to choke up and have great control of the blade.
Handle - 9 - Micarta - Micarta had the warmest feel of all the handles. But got a little slick when the icing started flying.
Usefulness in a zombie apocalypse - 9 - Another Bussekin so I would bet the farm on it but the short blade get a 1 point knock because i still don't want to be that close to a zombie.
Final Scores
Vera Wang - 30 out of 50
War Dog - 48 out of 50
RatManDu - 47 out of 50
