I voted no. No offence to everyone else who voted yes, but for me, that was a deeply personal day--one I'd rather commemorate with solemnity than with buying a knife. YRMV <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I posted a couple of pictures of the dog-tag in the Death Chat thread. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Plus One. Capitalizing on something like this just doesn't seem very appropriate to me... Just my two cents.

I agree JEFF, but I think that to the dogs here it would be more of a reminder of what CAN happen when We don't pay attention to what is happening around the world. I think it would be more of a way of remembering this tragic event and honoring the memories of ALL those who's lives were lost for no sane reason.

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> Forgot to add, I am talking about the dog tags!

Dan can release it on that date if he wants, but I buy SY to be user blades. A red white and blue blade would look weird...especially when doing yard work. I saved some newspapers and magazines of that day to remind me...if I even need it!!

In my Post above MM's I forgot to say I was talking about putting out another dog dag similar to the one that came with the tali-whacker. But I went back and added it.

I voted no only because in my opinion it would be tacky, like something the Franklin Mint would do. Please don't get me wrong I'll never forget 9/11 and don't want to see that memory cheapened.

I respectfully agree. The described blade is not something I would find appropriate. Selling simply marked blades with a premium going to a 9/11 charity would be my suggestion.

It would be interesting BUT. I wouldn't buy one I like earth tones on my knives
and have been saving and searching far and wide for the right large blade knife.
maybe the yard should make ONE like it and send it to the NY Fire and rescue.

I don't like Artsy Wall hangers. Yes some kind of Commemorative blade would be really nice. BUT I think it should be in line with Dan's type of knives/coatings and not something that as others have said the Franklin mint would do just to make a buck.

If you are going to make something to commemorate an event, and a tragic world changing event like 9-11 especially, it should bring forth memories of those who needlessly lost their lives and those brave Souls who GAVE THEIR lives to save others and to also keep the blood hot so the never ending fight against terrorism and immoral, unlawful oppression will not be forgotten.

NO society is free if they allow those "in power" to continually go against the wishes of the majority of the people.

THOSE WHO GOVERN MUST BE REMINDED FROM TIME TO TIME THEY WORK FOR US AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
