Both are great steels, especially when combined with the Busse Kin heat treat. Most users would notice very little difference, in performance. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

It's nice to know what to expect from the knives, and from what I understand, you're good either way. Some INFI will, also come my way, some day, I suspect.

I don't know enough about the difference between them or really need to for my needs, I just what some of each. The war dog is my infi blade and I don't know if I want more based on the price of most infi knives.

Rasmus, Seelow, and Domino: Welcome!
I have only beat up the INFI. Can't comment on the others.

my favorite of the 3 steels is SR-101, it strops very easy and hold a edge great! INFI does this to and is more corrostion resistance, but I have more experiance with SR-101 so thtas my vote. I only have 4 INFI blades, war dog Scrapper 5 LE and a Boss Street and a Boss Jack. They say big blades of INFI is where you really see it shine, Mine are all small to medium

I am looking af a Lansky universal system, but don't know if it is the way to go. And how do you like the Boss Jack? I am considering buying that one. From what I understand it is in stock on the Busse order page...

I have a Lansky system, that I don't use anymore. I'm not a big fan for a few reasons. One is the tediousness of using it on longer blades (over 5" or so). You have to move the clamp (can mark the blade) and work in sections. Two is the instability of the mount, and three is the fact that you are driving you fingers towards the blade. I have slipped off the stone and cut my knuckle badly. Oil + plastic doesn't make for a secure grip.
I use mousepad and sandpaper/3M microabrasive film before stropping or a Spyderco Sharpmaker.

From what I understand it is in stock on the Busse order page... Here is my simple process and I have had great results with all steels. This is D2, but my 1095 and SR101 has really surprised me at 10 degrees per side. I suck at convexing and this method is what works for me, you should really try different methods, but be aware of gimmicks when it comes to sharpening. If you can get a good benchstone or two, you can be set for life and once the learning curve is over with and you can get a good constant angle, maintenance is a breeze!

Cool, thanks! Very grafic. I will get on with. I have a couple of knives I can use to test and get better. Seem like you are well into it, so it should help me on the way.

I would get a second if I didnt order a Basic 6 LE.O usually use fine grit diamond then ceramic then strop. sometimes I will use sand paper before stropping.

The Basic 6 is also quite tempting to me. Plus it is cheaper! The ordering just seems like a huge hastle... But I should make the effort, and get the ordering done with, cus the Basic 6 is just my kind of knife.
