If you can find a DogFather for a good price -- BUY IT! Until then, wait for the 9-11; I'll bet that it will make you smile! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Getting out our frustrations is good. And who better to "Gripe" to than those who understand what you're talking about.
I've been there as well Jason, as a buyer and a seller. But the more times a "Secondary market" blade has been sold the more it's gonna cost. Just like below.
ORIGINAL BUYER Original cost 100.00 S&H 12.00 TOTAL 112.00 --------------------- SECOND BUYER above prices 112.00 plus ten bucks 10.00 anything else 25.00 plus S&H 12.00 TOTAL 159.00 --------------------- THIRD BUYER All the above 159.00 cost or ten 10.00 anything else .00 S&H 12.00 TOTAL 181.00
It all adds up in a hurry. I went to buy something once and realized it went just about like my example. And I said I ain't gonna pay half as much again as the original cost, that's to much of a markup! (it wasn't a knife) All I was looking at was the ORIGINAL cost and how much it was gonna cost me to get it to me. I didn't take into account all the other charges, that the seller has every right to recoup.
Like I said, I've griped and complained and will do it again, but we (YUP ME) sometimes forget how many hands it has passed through before it lands in ours.
Maybe this will help you out some, I know it has me just by typing it!
Now don't get me wrong, there are some scalpers out there and personally I think they should be avoided like the plague! But most of the folks are not trying to take anyone.
AND I don't think any dog here will, at least intentionally, take advantage of another dog.
I hope this doesn't sound like a sermon because it wasn't meant to be, just an explanation.
Oh, one last thing. It doesn't matter what something cost, IF YOU are satisfied with the price you paid, then that is all that matters. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

+1 to Lazi....well said sir.
+1 to Aimless as well...wait on the SYKCO 911, or get a Basic 10 from Busse when they release.
Takeaway from your whining: Buy more than one SYKCO 511 now <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I just try to be patient. I suspect that Bussekin will be producing knives for many more years to come. Who knows what wonderfullness they will release? I had to realize that as much as I want a Dogfather, I could buy a 911 and something else for the same money. Who knows that the "something else" won't be something totally radical from Bussekin?

The same thing! I have looked for the dog father for over six monthes, all with the same bad price. I was going to go out side of the yard and get a Esee Junglas then I heard of the 911. SOOO now I have to wait and see what comes out of the dog house this time. I have hard time getting online and only can make it to the library or McD's a couple times a week to check the sites. I have missed a few Dog fathers by hours and a few by days:( It sucks but lets see what happens with the 911.
Any day I'm above the grass and I'm not a zombie is a good day! JYD#138

Never stop trying! It took me six YEARS to finally get a Tali-Whacker, but I got one off eBay at a price better than the original release! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I'm sure there are collectors out there with 20 Dog Fathers in a box. That's animal cruelty!
that made me chuckle. I've been very lucky with some of the prices I've found on blades, but I also refresh the exchange about 30 times a day. Keep at it until your number comes up, or something else comes along. Just remember that today's $250 may be tomorrows $270.

I totally understand what you all are talking about.
When I first came to the yard I wanted a S6 baaaad! I had to wait 6 months (I kept missing the offers <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> )
but I got one, and more blade-models and more and more! They are really great blades to have and it was waaay worth it.
The S6 and Dogfather are Scrapyard flagships, and they came out often, and I hope they still will.
I suggest (and no promises here! not from me and of course the people who make them) keep asking, keep talking about it in threads and on your Santa-lists!
One great thing about Dan is he listens to us, he really really does, and I think he appreciates us (the Yard, the Dawgs) too!
And maybe, just maybe he will treat all you newer Dawgs to some good ole Yard Cooking and bring them back again.
you can only try and beg! lol
so Good Luck Dawgs and keep talking about it! (salute)

The way that the Busse Kin stuff is done is a process that works for them. And for the most part it works for those who are diligent. It's not perfect, but you get used to it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I'm always glad to know that the knives I have increase in value, instead of decrease like so many other things I own... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Everyone, Its hard to even reply to all of the comments. I really appreciate the thought and insight in each one. At least I know I'm not the only one being frustrated. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I know he doesn't mean me; even including my DFLEs, I'm still a couple shy of that. Although who knows, it could be me after the next Knob Creek. I'm holding onto what I have, but it's been several months since any secondary market prices have tempted me. The markup on many of those knives would have you thinking the economy was booming -- I saw a Rat Daddy up for over $500 today; it's priced at nearly what I spent for my KZ2 (after tax).
