Posted this elswhere, but thought I'd add it here with a few modifications for everyone's benefit.

The Brotherhood of the Yard: it's more than just words, it's a support group for our steel addictions. As we struggle with our addictions, we've come to learn that there are 12 steps to help us in our trials (the biggest one being we don't have all the knives we need).

The 12 steps of Bussekin recovery:

1) Admit that you have a problem (in this case, not enough Bussekin knives)

2) Admit that you can't overcome it on your own (that's why the store is here--and the exchange when ya need a quick fix )

3) Decide which blades you can't live without (ok, ALL of them, but there needs to be SOME moderation)

4) Make a written list of all the blades you need

5) Spend hundreds of hours on the exchange looking for your grail of the week

6) Buy several knives that you didn't even know you needed in the meantime

7) Hit "refresh" every five minutes on the forum to ensure you didn't miss the "go" command

8) Order three of everything released at the Yard (or the Swamp )

9) Watch in awe as your credit card statement magically grows

10) Cry a little (or a lot, depending on the growth in step 9)

11) Abuse the knives when they arrive

12) Repeat

Scrap Yard Knives are a "Gateway" knife. You will eventually start using even harder knives from Swamp Rat. Then it will be Busse Combat. First, just the Combat Grades, then some LEs. In the final stages, before you OD and go bankrupt, you will be buying knives from the Busse Custom Shop. You have to hit rock bottom to save your self from this addiction. I am almost there. My new wife may save me from it.....maybe.

I was all set to order a 511 when the wife called from LL Bean in Maine. She needs money in her account to buy new hiking boots and a jacket. They are on sale. She will SAVE me money. Yep. If it isn't furniture, car repairs, or clothes, I'd just keep on spending all my cash on more knives. Oh well, her birthday is next week. Maybe I'll get her a new knife. She returns tomorrow, I think.

You know, I'm tired of people telling me I have a problem; my wife, DT, my children and even my dog. Hold on, I don't have a dog. I DON'T have a problem, although I did order the Basic-6 and just slightly neglected to tell my wife .
