I assumed they were milling lines. Speed and feed on X, Y, & Z axis, versus hogging it with a grinder? I am curious as well.

My Emerson Mini Commander has them also. Another vote for milling lines.

Can someone post a picture? I'm not seeing these on my four.

If you look on BladeForums, the Dodo assault had faint lines like this. Maybe they are doing things a little differently in Wauseon these days, what with all of the upcoming releases.

Ish,
Thanks for the picture. I misunderstood the grind marks to be visible with the crinkle coat still in place. All four of my 511's still have the finish, and I can't see any sign of the pictured grinds.

If you hold them up to the light just right you can see the grind lines

I don't see them on my knives. Even if I did - who cares?
I want a "hell and back" fixed blade knife that I can use to kill the enemy, build a shelter, make a fire tent, clean dinner, etc.
Grind lines don't effect those issues. Function over form (coming from an architect).

This thread reminds me of those comments from AR15 owners on ARFCOM that complain about the upper and lower receivers colors not matching on their rifles.
If that's what you're concerned about - perhaps you should collect something else.
Scrap Yard knives are like Bravo Company AR15s - I'd stake my life and my wife's life on one....but it looks sloppy and the fit is a little sloppy.....but it works and works and works and works....and is backed by the industry's best warranty.
Guess I'm missing the point from the "Fit and Finish" crowd.

Guess I'm missing the point from the "Fit and Finish" crowd. I guess it all depends on what you are doing with the knives.Practicing a lot of traps and such like I find even the crinklcoat makes a difference to how my knives perform making notches etc. Once I removed the crinklcoat my SRKW M6 immediately cut better. With this in mind I'm sure deep grind marks would make a similar difference. Removing the crinklcoat I don't mind, sharpening I don't mind but man it would take me forever to smooth out those grind lines by hand !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
