Well said leighman, well said. And the "Academics" of our society are trying their hardest to make sure Knowledge IS NOT passed on to future generations.

Tell the Academics to stick to their spreadsheets and databases and leave us the heck alone to enjoy our sports.

I really need to try one of these soon. How many rounds do you go through?

I would like to use my .22, but it is scope-only. I have an AR with irons that I would consider trying out.

Take about 500 rounds of .22 to be safe. A LOT of the people I see shooting use scoped .22s. As long as you are not at a rimfire only range (some here in OH are) take both it and your AR. I have heard the phrase "run with what you brung" "no special gear needed." I would shoot your .22 on Sat and then maybe the end of Sunday OR your next Appleseed you can shoot the AR.

I shot Rifleman with a Tech site Ruger 10/22 first. Then tried with my AR but the site radius was too short for my eyes and the little 400 yard targets so I dug out my spare scoped 10/22 for fun the rest of the day and shot Rifleman twice more with it. Last one I went to I took an Eotech on my AR and shot back to back Rifleman with it. Next I think I will use a .22 bolt action. I am bringing friends, family, and some local Boy Scouts to each one of these I do. I accepted a Blue Hat at the last shoot which is a kind of behind the scenes get stuff done guy. Yeah I am a big cheerleader for it to.

Something that is not advsertised real well.....If you join the RWVA ($20 I think) and shoot at one Appleseed shoot (@ $75 total for both days) you can then shoot at any other Appleseeds for 1 year until you shoot Rifleman for FREE. It is a great deal especially if you are taking a teen or female with you as they are already free.
