Because Ishikawa's thread is locked without getting an answer I'll post a new thread.
What are the lines on the 511?
I think others also want to know this.
I hope this one stays on topic.

I would like to know as well. Its just out of curiosity rather than disapproval, just to be clear.

OP, like PK said, email Renee. She has answered many questions for me in the past and is a pleasure to deal with. Let us know what she says.

My money is on milling lines as the 511 too small of a knife to have usable CBT like the CGFBM. All I know is that they look sweet on the pics of stripped knives I have seen!

I'm still on the fence about the 511. I have a B6 en route and after I get my grubby hands on the B6's larger handle I'll have to decide on the 511.

fastcamo posted this "Those lines were introduced by Busse, they have corrugated flats on it. Its a series of narrow grooves, cut out below the center line, parallel to the edge, giving the blade structural strength and lightening it at the same time. It can help cut some materials and also have some materials stick to it."

It makes sense and reminds me of the lines on the Busse Jack Hammer only more and closer together.

Plus I like the way it looks.

drodent/fastcamo, I gotta believe these weren't milled in like the Busses for strengthening/lightenening--these seem too narrow and light. Maybe it helps the coating stick better? Maybe it's a byproduct of a new mechanized grinding process? I gotta think it was something to keep costs lower. I could also be completely wrong and you guys right 100%

Either way, doesn't looking like something that will impact the coated blades or the general performance of the knife
