I have a german short hair pointer and can't wait for the bird season to open up in Ohio. Any other bird hunters around?

Not since '81, but I hunted a lot of pheasants in Idaho.

I would like to get out west to do some pheasants in the future. I think my gsp would be a lot happier than me. I enjoy being out and hunting but I think the joy that my dog gets from hunting trumps my joy when I go out.

Oh and I might mention that of all the quail and pheasant hunting I've done, I have never hunted over a dog. No one I hunted with had one so we were our own dogs. Kinda prophetic now that I think about it.

I spent two years at Mountain Home Air Force Base and loved every minute of it. About 45 miles southeast of Boise.

I like hunting with the dog and seeing the pure joy she gets at each point.
My dad tells me tails of jump shooting duck with my great grandfather and having to swim in the icy water to go retrieve the ducks floating in the water. Being
one of four boys my great grandfather had lots of retrievers.

Ya think he might have exaggerated a mite? Stories are always better when they are gussied up a little.

No I heard the same stories from each of my uncles at different times and places.
I am glad I don't have to play dog.
