A Deputy threw away a dip can tonight here at work. I was looking at it and the body is made of plastic with a metal lid that snaps on! (I didn't know all this). Anyway I got to thinking how it could be used. It could be filled with all sorts of stuff, mini survival kit, fishing kit, mini-FAK, hold fire starting materials or in my case, MAYBE, meds.
I got a bunch of 1 inch by 1 1/2 inch ziploc plastic bags to hold my PJ cotton balls in but was thinking IF I put meds in the bags then the bags in the can(S) they should be good to go for a while.
I know I would want one for each of the following, but what other meds would I want to carry and need cans for? (we're talking over the counter stuff here)
Tylenol Ibuprofen Imodium Tums Advil or Aleve (or would these be the same as one of the first two) So it looks like I will need at least 4 or 5 containers
What other stuff do you think would be nice to have/essential?
What are your thoughts?

I have an old snus tin that I store a few small survival kit items in. If you could find the perfect sized round mirror, I think a dip tin could be perfect for storing small items.
I also use the good 'ol Altoids tin as a FAK.

Another good thing to grab is the tins that ESEE makes. They are like $3 a piece and are about the size of an Altoids tin.

Some useful meds would be some kind of antihistamine and a dose of aspirin, they could save a life in the case of severe allergies or a heart attack if the victim is able to chew and swallow them.

Randy, I have been dipping Copenhagen for a very long time. The Copenhagen cans are good for getting a fire started singe they are waxed cardboard. The Skoal type cans make decent containers.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a dip can? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I told my wife I wanted to be cremated. She made me an appointment for tomorrow afternoon.

Ian, Copenhagen, skoal, some folks call it snuff. It comes in round cans or "Tins" about 8cm across and maybe 1cm deep. Actually all it is is VERY finely ground flavored tobacco (wintergreen flavor seems to be a favorite) that you put between your gums and cheeks.

Monsterdog, hadn't thought about those two, I'll add them to the list!

Ian, I am not sure if you guys have "snuff" but it is moist and not the dry powder that a lot of the English snorted in the old days.

You can keep loose bits in them, as in bits for a bit driver or powered screw driver.
It's not really a survival idea, but it's another way to use them.
