I decided to bail out of hot Phx., Az. for a couple of weeks, to go see the the grandkids that are in Montana. I drove some of the backroads to see small town USA. Trying to figure out were we will end up retiring at. Somewhere cooler, thats for sure.
Went through Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, The Grand Tetons and camped out in Yellowstone Natl. park.

The Grand Tetons

Camped out at Lewis lake. It was here that I first heard and saw a Trumpeter Swan. Sorry no pic.

Went on a 12 mile round trip hike to Shoshone Lake. It is believed to be the largest backcountry lake in the lower 48 at 8,050 acres with no road access.
The hike in.

There was a big fire here in 1988. Suprising to see so much damage still.

Lots of wildfires in Wyoming had a haze everywhere.

Shoshone lake. These pics. are looking north across the width. It is twice as long as it is wide.

My pack with Regulator and Glock 20 in 10 mm.

Wild strawberries were everywhere. Didn't make me feel any better about all the bear warnings.

That looks to have been a great trip. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> Beautiful country and plenty of fire wood laying around there. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for sharing them.

Looks like an awesome trip. I remember going to Yellowstone and seeing the Tetons as a kid. I have really good memories.
