so sf45acp's thread got me thinking of what knife I will carry this season. have it narrowed down to HRLM, RMD, SY 511, SY S5LE, SY SS4 or war dog. Turkey and duck season I carry a Camp Tramp and mud puppy. I like to brush in as needed and the CT does that pretty good and is light to carry. so whats it gonna be for you guys?

I will be carrying my Falkniven H1. Of the blades you have listed I'd pick the War Dog or the SS4.

I carry a Rodent Solution and it has worked good. Many people complain the edge is to short, but IMO it is just right, I dont want a big 5inch knife for that work. 3 Inches, sharp and that works for me.

It ain't the size that matters. Last year I skinned a buck with an ESEE Izula. Your Mud Puppy would do fine too.

I just put a new edge on my WD and I'm REALLY looking forward to trying it out. The Rodent Solution would also make a great hunting knife. RS has the perfect size for getting up into the cavity with out worry of cutting something that should not be cut when working in blind spots . I use my RS on a trout fishing trip back in May and it was perfect for cutting and cleaning my fish. I also have a HR that needs a little outside activity so will probably drag him out real soon. I just love this time of year.

I never enter the woods without my Gene Ingram. For cleaning an animal, it performs flawlessly.

That said, I also employ the SS4 for the dirty work. Most of the bussekin are a shy too thick for my preference when pulling the meat off. I'm hopeful we'll see a 1/8" thick 154 someday...until then, the Ingram gets the call.

EDIT: I used to have a WD...which I thought would fit the above mentioned preference. I just found the mudder too big for the scale of the blade. Probably just a personal mental issue more than anything.

I think that the Rodent Solution is a great blade for this purpose I plan on stripping mine and giving it a nice thin edge for purposes of skinning game.

I think any variation of the Muk will excel at this task as well.

I know what this will start but I am surprised that no one is going to take their weiner dog hunting with them.

I usually carry a Dog Father or SOD along with several others...it just makes me happy
