hardest thing for me was, my family are a the type that mind our own business and only give advise if we are asked.
Her mother was Ukrainian and saw herself as the matriarch of the family, that had the right to run everyone's lives.
Pauline would spend 3 days to a week before every special occasion cooking/cleaning at her mothers place so that she could have a big family dinner (her mother couldn't do it) her sister who lived at home did nothing, but n the day of the dinner the pair of them acted like they did it all.
I don't recall them ever thanking Pauline for the work

Of course they won't thank your wife. She's meek and mild and does NOT deserve any recognition for doing what she Should ALWAYS be doing for the MORE POWERFUL members of the family (meaning them)! Yeah right. Patty's family is afraid of the other sister because she truly is mean and is NEVER happy unless she is causing someone problems. Well what they don't know, is I am about half nuts and sometimes barely in control and don't care a wit about her sister. I'd tear her up like a can of kraut!

now-a-days she only really sees 1 brother regularly and her sister.
