What about a piston pellet rifle? I like my gamo Yeah, they are fine. As long as you can reload it with power by hand. I just don't think surviving and having to find air cans and bullets is smart.

I think PCP airguns air good for plinking and hunting but I'll grab the mossberg or 10/22 if the news broadcast title read "SHTF" anywhere in the title.
still for running out in the woods and dusting off critters, I think a PCP rifle is a great tool.
Agreed. | | |

I wouldn't dismiss a good pellet rifle as a survival tool. The number of round to weight ratio is the best in the business.

What about a piston pellet rifle? I like my gamo nitro piston is fine but I like the idea of a bolt action style repeater myself. I probably only do 20-30 shots when i post up with my air rifle. rather not spend all my time messing around with a break barrel. with PCP I'd probably send a lot more lead flying per sitting even if I has to get a little winded sometime during the process.

another cool option is tube fed .22's. some of them are pretty cheap and can handle .22 short. ran a couple cb's through one and can say that it's not surpressed quiet but im sure it would hit at he top range of most air rifles.

You can make a .22 short very very quiet in a pinch.

My survival weapons (when my new Ruger arrives) are The Mark III silenced, Glock 21 and Remmington 870 Express with spare long barrel. Glock and Shotty with breacher barrel for defense. Mark III silenced and shotty with long barrel for food. Mark III for the little stuff, and shotty for bigger stuff. A 12 gauge slug will handle everything but an elephant.
