Supposed to be a bit over 10mm. Here's what the hottest round I have is supposed to do. I have a 5" ported barrel.

Caliber : 40 Super

Bullet : 135gr. Nosler Jacketed Hollow Point.

Ballistics : 1755fps / 923 ft.lbs. - Glock 21 6" barrel
1685fps / 841 ft lbs 1911 5" barrel

I don't know about predessesor but I think it was made with the intent of maxing out the .45 acp platform.

trying to cure the cannon itch a little bit. if this will run fine on my FNP then I won't impulse buy a 10mm. well maybe I won't....

but I dot want to shoot this a lot. just want to know that I can kick up some dust if i want to.

just read the wiki again.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/.40_Super

some interesting info...

The .40 Super drove a 135 grain bullet to 1,800 feet per second while generating less chamber pressure than the Winchester 9 X 23. With a 200 grain bullet the .40 Super delivers more foot/pounds of energy at 100 yards than the .45 ACP does at the muzzle. From a sheer power standpoint, the .40 Super rivals the energy generated by the .44 Magnum.

.Handguns converted to .40 Super include the S&W 4506, Glock 21, Glock 30, SIG P220, FNH FNP-45, HK USP and the 1911 Government Model (and it’s variants). Handguns set up for the .45 Super cartridge only need a barrel swap. Handguns chambered for the .400 Cor-Bon can have their barrels rechambered to .40 Super at minimal cost. Gun World magazine (July 2000 ed.).

OK, so it's based on the 45acp case? I wasn't thinking it was a bottle neck cartridge. Cool! I have a Gen. 3 G20, with the 3.5lb trigger and adj. night sights, and have been wanting to try a 6 in. barrel for hunting reloads. A lot of firepower there. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Speaking of bottleneck cartridges. I really enjoy my G32 in .357 SIG.

I don't know much about .40 super other than what I read on the first pages of a google search. I saw 10mm and .44 mag from my FNP and I was in. Seems to be a small investment for a huge amount of gain in performance.

this might be a good thread for you to read hooker... .40 super glock...
