I can say with out a doubt thats what happened here. They have one thing they have to do which I will put my foot down on and refuse to comply. One of the nuttier things is they are required to automatically assign a case report if a reported runaway is on the screen from a certain amount of time if we haven't been able to respond. We eventually get there and it was never a runaway and they (dispatch) demands we do a report. I refuse to make my guys do a report because little johnny was an hour late and the RP forgot to tell us they were home. My take is if it's your policy to pull a case you do the report. Its not a Law Enforcement issue.

That's one of the reasons I hope we never consolidate. But at 57, IF I can survive another 8 years (until I'm 66, or maybe just 62, have to check on it) I'll be happy but feel sorry for those that have to make the change.

Its the worst thing that can happen to any agency that has their own dispatch.

It's being mandated here by whoever administers the 911 money. We've got 4 PSAP's in the county right now, and they're saying that the 911 money only goes to the main one. Thus, the EMS/Fire dispatch gets all the money to operate on and we are working out of the sheriff dept budget.

So when are they going to release the 7-11?

Nobody is happy about it, but it's pretty much being forced down our throats.

It's been two weeks. LOL, I'm just hoping to have it by Christmas.

I can't wait for the 4-11. That and the 3-11 may be the only one of the -11 blades that I get.

We've only got one E911 center here, it's co-located with the ambulance shed in the largest city in the county. They are their own entity, money/manpower everything.

The Sheriff's office is located here in the jail (well up stairs anyway) and we ARE part of the SO. I am the only Police officer dispatcher (NOT POST certified anymore though) and I think that is one reason the Sheriff gives me so much leeway on what I do as far as handling problems that people call in. Not to mention that I save having to call out a Lot of deputies.

OH man, I think Mythbusters are on to something. They have sprayed a plywood wall AND a cinderblock wall with bedliner. THEN set off It looked like one half pound of C4 near the wood wall. NO DAMAGE! It blew the non coated wall to bits.

Cinder block wall was double the C4, same results! AMAZING!

I really miss the old way. Dispatchers were allowed to be better insteaf of doing national e911 protocols. They are actually graded on how they fill out a form on every 911 call as opposed to how well they actually do.
