The MTV (modular tactical vest) we use are pretty heavy. 30lbs.

Our guys vests aren't that heavy, but they're required to wear them at all times, no weather exclusions.

We are required while downrange and outside the wire. Add in the side plates adds about 8 more pounds. they have a waist band that takes a lot of the weight off your shoulders.
