Yellowstone. That is Red Spouter fumarole (not actually a geyser. You should check youtube for videos of it. The sound was deafening. Sounded like a perpetually exhaling dragon.

Were you out on the job or did you get a chance for some leave?

Weekend trip. A buddy PCS'ing from the west coast to the east stopped by for the weekend and asked if I "want to go see some hydrothermal awesomeness?"

How could I say no to that question?

Nice pics for a phone! Haha, I remember Old faithful when you could drive up and park about 100 yards away from it! And NO I wasn't driving age at that time! I figure it was somewhere around 1965-67.

You just wouldn't be you without your straw hat! I ALMOST pulled the trigger on a Tilley hat last week. But decided at least for now to make do with my desert camo boonie hat. I wish it was the right size though. Every time I wash it I have to stretch it out and then put it on damp so it will dry and be big enough for me to wear without hurting my head to much. NO IT'S NOT THAT BIG! I only wear a 7 1/4 hat size, so there.
