It was a whopper for us- 1 week with no power, phone etc was the longest I've gone...was chillier than after Irene too! The damage was insane- I've never seen so many trees downed or damaged- my local paths were unrecognizable.

Check out the widowmakers- they are everywhere!

What does a knifenut do in a case like this? Bring out a few choppers and clear the paths while working some stress out!

The Tamang Kukri is great..I wish Dan would kick one out! The Battle Rat is a chopping machine too...better on hard wood than the kukri. The Condor is my "This is Sparta" toy (who doesn't like a gladius??) and it does pretty dang well actually!

I've actually been out clearing 3-4 more times- have the paths much more livable now!

See how the last ones are fuzzy? I was chopping like a fool and couldn't hold the camera steady! hah!

The pics in the first post (first 2 pics) with the big mess was a heap of work, but had my 5 year old out and we both had fun and worked hard!

yeah it was bad for most people. I was lucky enough to have power but half of my maple tree is on the ground...

You didn't lose power? Wowza!

Thank God the maple is on the ground and not on your house!

We had are condo association take down three trees last year and we are all so glad we did...big limbs would have really hit us without a doubt.

Glad you came through it OK Kenken! Was wondering how you managed!

lol yeah it was scary. parts of maple went lower and lower some of it even touchdown on the ground and we are not talking about a small tree here (35 year old maple). I'm glad everything is back to normal (somewhat).

RN, glad to hear you weathered the storm and your family made it safely through all of the events.

Thanks for sharing the pics of your cleanup! It looks like a LOT of work.

Tell me, how do you define a "widow maker"? I've seen you mention it a few times, and based on context I have decided they are damaged / dead limbs that could fall at any time....creating a real danger for unsuspecting travelers. My crude interpretation

Your crude interpretation sounds good to me!
