I got a sykco 511 2 days ago. It is my first ever quality knife,i like it very much. Would appreciate sharpening methods/tips regarding sr101 steel.
I foresee more scrapyard knives in the future..$igh

First off Congratulations on the new knife and welcome to the yard! Some tips on SR-101, definitely keep it oiled. SR-101 is great steel but is very prone to rust. It keeps an edge forever and takes an extremely keen edge at that. My 511 came with a pretty obtuse edge. I was going to send it to Richard J for a crazy edge but that didn't end up happening. Enjoy the blade man.

My sharpening stuff=old oil stone badly dished,pocket waterstones,1000/6000.
Looking to get dmt diamond hone the red/green one.
Thanks for the keep it oiled tip,will do.
