Invest in a small belt sander and start looking for extremely high grit belts. Horndog would be a good guy to ask about this method, he seems to favor it for his knives. I've heard you have to be careful not to butcher the blade though, and practice practice practice.

For my part, until I can afford a better method, I use a DMT fine grit block to do my rough work, and a ceramic honing rod I got from Bud-K for 10$ to clean the edge up. If I'm careful enough I can get a knife sharp enough to shave with, and the ceramic hone does a nice job of shining the edge up.

and practice practice practice, haha <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Welcome and congratulations on the 511.

You've chosen a great time to get involved with the Yard as there will be an entire "11" series of knives being released.

My first Scrapyard knife is the Military Overrun Camo 511. I love this knife. I regret not getting 2. On my day hikes, I carry it more often than my B6le. I just keep it oiled (edible mineral oil) and we are good to go. I wouldnt use it chop down trees but it can process wood that I gather really easy. It is also great for food prep chores. It could even serve as a defensive tool if my Glock failed me for some reason. Merry Christmas to all.

Franco
