Thanks guys. I'm glad these posts are of some value to you.

Hook, I get that from family members who I try to educate. My policy has been CLEARLY gone over with my family many times:

1) I've interested in survivalism since 1983. You know that.
2) I've continually tried to educate you about the perils facing the world since about 1989. You know that too.
3) If you CHOSE to ignore the signs (and the Bible) then I refuse to help you. You all have adequate financial means to store several months of food, etc.
4) If you do nothing to prepare for even a minor event (say 30 days without power) then do not expect me to help you. If you show up - I will view you as an adversary and will deal with the threat accordingly.

To #4 I usually get....

"What, you're going to shoot me or something" (typically said with a smirk).

My response.....

"Absolutely. I'm going to shoot you and leave you gravely wounded in my yard as a sign to anyone else who thinks I'm Wal-Mart".

I then follow up (after they stare at me blankly for a moment) with:

"If I choose to take care of you - I am in effect choosing to take less care of my immediate family that has been helping me prepare. You will be my enemy. You will be turned away. If you act aggressively - YOU WILL BE SHOT".

Survival is tough. A strong mental attitude (and mental preparedness) is tantamount to your own survival.

Now, conversely, if a relative has been preparing but loses his/her food & water stockpile, home, shelter, weaponry, etc to a disaster (man made or natural) then I will absolutely take that person in. They are of the same mindset, and they demonstrated the discipline required to survival. Further, its my Christian duty to help them.

You might ask why its not my Christian duty to help the lazy and ignorant people that didn't prepare?

Well - because the Bible says I don't have to....

2 Thessalonians 3:10 ESV
For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.

Proverbs 10:4 ESV
A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Proverbs 10:5 ESV
He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.

Proverbs 13:4 ESV
The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.

Proverbs 18:9 ESV
Whoever is slack in his work is a brother to him who destroys.

Proverbs 19:15 ESV
Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.

Proverbs 20:4 ESV
The sluggard does not plow in the autumn; he will seek at harvest and have nothing.

Proverbs 20:13 ESV
Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of bread.

Proverbs 24:30-34 ESV
I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.

Proverbs 26:1-28 ESV
Like snow in summer or rain in harvest, so honor is not fitting for a fool. Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, a curse that is causeless does not alight. A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools. Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes. ...

^^^ This is where getting people to help themselves NOW offers us immunity from helping them LATER. ^^^

Lastly, this is why I keep repeating: "only take care of your immediate family that lives with you" and that I'd take in a family member that was a "prepper" but lost his/her supplies:

1 Timothy 5:8 ESV
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

For me (and I'm not trying to be "preachy") survivalism is just as much spiritual as it is physical. The "war" will be inside as much as outside. Having food for your body is great, but you need to feed your soul as well. I sincerely feel for those who feel like they're going to be going through "it" alone.

Spectacular list Arch, I know it is your hobby kind of thing, but I do appreciate your time and effort.
Don't forget to add PHTF, for poop hits/hitting the fan

Feces hitting the oscillating blades has been added!

I don't talk about my personal preps to many other than here, to avoid the "I'll just come over to your house" zeroes! Of course, I only have two neighbors at each end of the road, and they are somewhat like-minded.

Great OPSEC with a heavy hint of PERSEC. This plan is GTG. When PHTF or TEOTWAWKI occurs, Tom will be in his BIL munching on MREs waiting for the BG to get very DRT becuase he'd been listening the events on GMRS and used his EDC & GHB to get back to his AO. Now he'll be on top of his ECP with his MBR - it'll be truly spectacular because his BCL is full of LBE ALICE (including a great IFAK) and other CQB gear so this just proves that P6 is true!

Sorry - had to lighten up the thread after my preachy post.

Good stuff arch. I read a article one time by Claire wolf I think , of a list she gave to her family and close friends on what was expected of them if they came to her retreat. What to bring, their chores and who is boss. It was a good read and had valuable points.

She stated it was not a democracy. She was not a walmart, she was not going to do all the work, etc.

OH GREAT! Now I got ANOTHER language to try and learn, and English was hard enough!

Oh BTW, the Alphabet you posted up is also called the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization, as in airplanes) Phonetic alphabet. Just a tidbit from an Old retired Air Force Lifer.

AND I forgot to say, I also VERY MUCH appreciate all the posts you put up about Survivalism/guns and other very informative information. You've been quite busy in your short years upon this earth and I think You're very well grounded. Thank you for your posts.
