I dont know that you can necessarily get a thinner blade sharper as a 20 degree edge is still a 20 degree edge. However I think thinner blades cut easier and make slicing through things easier as well. A thicker blade has a fatter shoulder above the edge. I went thinner I may not be getting one of them as I may have a SS4 coming soon.

Exactly right. Try dragging a war dog through watermelon or cardboard. The thickness makes a big difference in more rigid materials like that. Cutting leather strips, makes no difference.

think this would make a great christmas gift if they ship in time. good way to introduce folks into the world of INFI that may not know what it's like to have a real quality fixed blade knife.

I've got my WarDog, but I really like the Basic 4. Especially if it's a thin blade.
