I think that a lot of it is the trigger - and I just have whatever came stock in it. The Glock was a pretty long pull. The new squared off FLETC shooting stance and thumb forward grip sure make a difference too.

The Glock has a .5" trigger travel to discharge according to the armorers manual and my 1911 is half that if not less, not to mention the break is much lighter on the 1911. I think I measures my Glock at about 5.5 pounds and my Kimger factory 1911 at 3.8 pounds. The 1911 trigger makes a big difference for me when it comes to follow up shots, especially at long distances.

My big weakness is my follow through - I always peek after my shot and release my trigger fully. So thats what I've been working on - just finding my front sight, and using the trigger reset (which is why I'm planning on getting a trigger w/ a shorter reset).

Trigger reset is a great thing to master on any weapon since they all have it and it works. It takes a while, especially on AR's. Obvisouly with the full release one has a tendancy to slap the trigger as opposed to a smooth and deliberate squeeze. Then there is more realistic drill where reality sets in and it all seems to go back to the basic caveman skills that we all possess. I have probably practiced 30-40 thousand dry fire trigger resets on my Glock in order to get my trigger finger (which accounts for 75-90% of accuracy in my opinion) accustomed to shooting a followup shot (double tap or hammer). I drop shots like everyone else and I am not any better than the next guy, but having trigger control is the key to follow up and follow through. Front sight press front sight breathe as the modo goes in our training.

I just got "Spies Like Us" today at Shopko - the wife hasn't seen it yet, so we're going to watch it when she gets off work. Thats a great old movie. Picked up "Coming To America" today too.

I"ve been looking at one of these for awhile. I know the knife is worth it but is the pistol worth the $ compared with other 1911 styles? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I need to do more dry fire drills. I did just pick up some "snap caps" so I can do some dry fire drills and take it easy on the firing pin <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I'm also going to mix up some magazines w/ them so I can really see how my flinch is. I haven't done any of those drills for about a year - it was some great training. Now that I have free ammo, I'll be able to shoot more often!

HAHA. No I survived. My dog and my flashlight are what I took to the front yard to investigate the sirens and my keys. No firearms and alcohol here. My neighbor has an incident of some kind with the fire dept. Looks like they ahve it under control. As if I could offer anythign other than Vodka and knives.

I'd give my left nut for one of those as long as I got a prosthetic one put in to fill the void. That is a SWEET combo!

The vodka might help.
