I can't stand to ride or drive for more than a couple hours now, my back gives me fits if I sit too long at a time.

Fortunately for me, the General is a good driver, so I can set the seat back and take a nap when I need a break! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

My wife absolutely terrifies me when she drives. Follows too close, hogs the left lane, won't yield to other drivers when she should. I can't ride with her unless it's an emergency or I'm drunk, and I don't like to then. I sure as the world couldn't sleep with her behind the wheel!

I am not the marathon driver. I break them up with stops at national parks and stuff life that. I don't have the physical issues you guys mentioned (knock on Bussekin steel), but I find audiobooks to be the cure for the mental part of it.

Never thought about audiobooks, but that could work well. I had a satellite radio in my car, and that worked great for distance driving, but I rarely go over an hour away from home now.

I used to do long drives straight through. Not so much anymore. I will stop for the worlds largest ball of string nowdays. I tend to try and plan ahead and stop and doing something cool if I have the family with me. If I am heading soewhere for a purpose by myself I only stop for fuel. My truck has a freakishly long range.

When I was younger I'd drive 6-8 hours at a time without stopping. Just can't do it now.

Shoot, I'd even carry a milk jug so I didn't have to stop for pee breaks. I had a bladder of iron and no prostate issues back then. Sure can't say that now!

I think the longest I have driven with only fuel stops is 1600 miles.

That's a lot of driving nonstop. Got me beat.

I have been on a few long haul flights though. The longest was about 8,000 miles and about 16 hours. Too long to sleep through.
