Hanwei supposedly makes some good blades. So you're not going to get the Tactical Waki and Katana?

I think I am going to get the Cheness Katana blade in Shirasaya. It is cheaper than the actual Katana, but is the same blade. I will just mount it myself. It gets rave reviews from sword enthusiast and is the only one of the three I am looking at (and in my price range) that is hand forged. No machines are used in the making either.

Sounds pretty nice! As good as you are with handles, you can probably put a nice handle on it.

I want to make a semi-traditional handle, but with a Marine Corps theme. I was thinking of having a local metal worker make the tsubas (guard) in the shape of an Eagle, Globe and Anchor. The wrap will be in desert camo 550 cord.
