We had a high turnover one year. They lost 10 in 2 months because they thought the grass was greener at another place. The majority were senior dispatchers. So we had one and 2 year dispathcers training and they barely know the job. It has had a nasty ripple effect.

Recruiting has been interesting. A good dispatcher is worth their weight in gold here. But its more of a training issue than recruiting. I'd love to have my weight in gold..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

It has been a pain. Some of the crappy ones are supervisors. It can be a constant battle depending on who is on.

I feel your pain! Poor supervisors can break a great dispatcher in the long run.

Its more of an issue of the dispatch supervisor fighting with us. Fortunately I get along great the their big boss and the next in line.

That sure helps. But speaking as a dispatcher, I hate to be in the middle between two supervisors.

I generally just deal with the supervisors. Different chains of command. If I have problem with a supervisor I go to their bosses. Its rare but I have had to do it more than I would like to. About the only time I intervene is on serious officer safety issues. Usually I can counteract most of the problems with a quick phone call or a gentle reminder over the radio.
I can't wait till the level of experience come back up.

Watching science documentaries makes me feel better about being lazy.
The of the surface earth is spinning at more than 1,000 mph. The earth is orbiting the sun at 67,000 mph. Then there's the speed the solar system is orbiting the center of the galaxy and then the galaxy's movement in the cosmos. Not even taking into account my movement in time (it is part of space), I am hauling [censored] at astronomical speeds without leaving mt recliner.

Think everyone went to bed! I'm still at work and awake for at least another 5 hours.
